Meet the United for Animals team
We are all different, but we share one common goal: the desire to help animals who cannot care for themselves
UFA's Main Areas of Work
The UFA team includes dozens of coordinators across Ukraine, particularly in frontline regions. Every day, they conduct sterilizations and vaccinations, and support caregivers and shelters, often at the risk of their own safety

Origins and First Missions
The Beginning of Our Work
The United for Animals Foundation has coordinators in various cities across Ukraine.
These are experienced animal rights activists who are well-acquainted with the situation in their regions; they help identify needs, organize aid, and support shelters and caregivers.
Following the start of the full-scale war in 2022, international organizations began sending humanitarian aid for animals in Ukraine.
In May 2023, the United for Animals Foundation was officially established.
The NGO “Barbos,” based in Uzhhorod, became a humanitarian hub for coordinating the receipt, storage, and shipment of aid throughout Ukraine.
International aid was coordinated by a Czech alliance of organizations led by Yuliia Firka.
Operational coordination within Ukraine was handled by Iryna Azizian.
This collaboration became the foundation for the creation of United for Animals.
First Humanitarian Missions
- Aid was delivered to shelters and volunteers in the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions as early as the first days of March 2022.
- Following the first successful shipments, aid began to be sent to all regions, including frontline territories.
- The first shipments were even sent by train, as it was the only possible method at the time.
- The phone rang non-stop — shelters were desperately calling for help.
Our Mission
United for Animals provides food and humanitarian aid to animals in Ukraine by bringing together international partners, donors, and volunteers, with a special focus on frontline regions.
Our Vision
Expanding aid, creating stable support programs, and attracting new international partners to ensure continuous support for animals.
